A Message from Our President

As RCDH enters into its 8th year since being charted, the Rotary International theme for RY2024/25 “The Magic of Rotary” seems very apt. It emphasizes the transformative power of Rotary in communities around the world.

The message behind this theme centres on the idea that through Rotary's service, dedication and collaboration, incredible things can be achieved to make the world a better place.

RCDH was chartered to “make a difference through service,” and this still remains our primary focus to our members and our community.

For the RY2024/25, my board and I will be focusing on:

  • Further strengthening our club through increased membership and encouraging higher participation for all our activities. I would also like to renew the bonds we already have and further strengthen our 30 strong members, through our continued fellowship and activities throughout the year; and.
  • Continuing our community projects to alleviate poverty and help the children, where our focus for this year will be:
  • Kitchen Bundle: a project we have been running since we started, where we assist single income homes. We would like to grow this to add on more families, and hope to switch back to groceries-in-kind in January 2025, rather than the cash vouchers we currently provide;
  • Start Ups: to empower the B40 community to become financially independent through funding of small startups. We would like to identify at least 2 start ups for this year;
  • Literacy Program, or as we call it, “Pages” is to set up micro libraries to empower Children Welfare Homes with reading facilities. We have identified 1 venue already for this year, and would like to identify at least one more by the end of this year; and
  • Christmas Cheer which is about bringing the Christmas Joy to the Trinity Home for orphaned children, who held a special place in Shiva’s heart. On that note, one of our activities for them, which is still in the planning stage is for us to work closely with RC Melawati to do something for the home in memory of Shiva, using the balance funds from the RY2022/23 District Conference.

As always, we are able to carry out such projects through the generous contributions of time and resources of our members, friends and families, either directly or by joining our various fundraising events.

Lastly, I would like to thank the RCDH Past President Council for trusting me with this role, and hope I do justice to it.

I trust RY2024/25 will be a great year with the magic of Rotary and the magic of our RCDH members come alive as we move our club to greater heights and our community projects to success.

Thank you.
